5 places most resellers never check (but should)
Most resellers fight over the same clearance aisles and the same Twitter deal accounts. Here's where the real margins are hiding:
1. Wholesale liquidation pallets — Retailers dump overstock in bulk. You can buy $5,000 retail value for $500-800 if you know which categories to target (electronics accessories and home goods have the best margin-to-effort ratio).
2. Local Facebook Marketplace misprices — Set alerts for brand names + low prices. People moving, divorcing, or cleaning out regularly price things at 20-30% of market. Speed wins.
3. International price arbitrage — Some products are 40-60% cheaper in other markets. Certain sneaker colorways that sit on shelves in the EU sell for 2-3x in the US.
4. B-stock and open-box retailers — Direct-from-manufacturer refurb programs have better margins than retail arbitrage. The products are often basically new.
5. End-of-season store transfers — When stores close or relocate, they liquidate everything. Build relationships with store managers and get first pick before it hits clearance.
The real edge isn't finding one deal — it's having a system that surfaces deals faster than everyone else. That's what we do inside Restock Society.
