Why I stopped using free model packs and started building everything from scratch
Most Roblox developers start the same way — downloading free models, grabbing open-source systems, stitching together someone else's code until the game kinda works.
I did that for years. And every time, the same problems showed up:
Spaghetti code I couldn't modify without breaking something
Assets that looked inconsistent next to each other
No real understanding of why things worked the way they did
So I made a decision: build everything from zero. Every system, every map, every UI element — from a blank baseplate.
It took longer. Way longer at first. But within a few months, I could prototype a full game in a fraction of the time because I actually understood every piece. No more guessing. No more dependency on someone else's architecture.
That's what led me to create the Roblox Studio Forge — a monthly vault of completely original game files I build from scratch. It's designed for developers who want to learn from real, production-quality project structures, not recycled asset packs.
