The 3 mistakes that kill most first-time e-commerce stores

I've watched hundreds of beginners try to launch their first online store. Most fail within 60 days. It's not because e-commerce is hard — it's because they make the same 3 mistakes every time.

1. They pick a product before they pick a customer.

Everyone googles "best products to sell online" and ends up selling the same stuff as 10,000 other stores. Flip it. Find a group of people with a specific problem, THEN find the product that solves it.

2. They spend money before they validate.

Bulk ordering inventory, running ads to a store nobody's tested — that's gambling, not business. Start with 1 product, a simple store, and $0 in ads. Get 5 real sales before you invest.

3. They build alone.

E-commerce has a steep learning curve. The people who make it have a group chat, a mentor, or a community keeping them accountable. You need people who are 2 steps ahead of you, not 200.

I built Sellvora to fix all three. Step-by-step course, live community, and a system designed for people starting from zero.

If that sounds like you — check it out.

The 3 design mistakes killing your content (and how templates fix them)

Most beginner designers make the same three mistakes over and over:

1. Too many fonts. You open Canva, get excited, and suddenly your Instagram post has 4 different typefaces. Pick two. Max. One for headers, one for body.

2. No whitespace. Every inch is filled with something. Your audience's eyes don't know where to look. Great design is about what you leave out, not what you cram in.

3. Inconsistent branding. Monday's post looks nothing like Tuesday's. No shared colors, no shared layout. People can't recognize your stuff in a feed.

Templates solve all three at once. They give you the structure so you can focus on the message. That's why I built the Sellvora Design Starter Kit — a curated set of Canva & Figma templates specifically for people who are learning design.

No fluff. Just clean, professional layouts you can make your own in minutes.
