Cheap sunglasses don't save money. They make the rest of your outfit look cheaper.

A $12 pair from a gas station does one thing well: it tells everyone you didn't think about it.

Statement sunglasses aren't just about UV — though UV400 is non-negotiable. They're the one accessory that sits on your face. People look at your eyes first. If the frames are plastic-thin and logo-slapped, the rest of the fit has to work twice as hard.

Three rules that actually matter:

  1. Acetate over cheap injected plastic. Weight is the tell.

  2. Gold or black hardware, not chrome. Chrome dates.

  3. One silhouette you can wear with everything. If you need a different pair for every outfit, you bought costume pieces.

That's the whole theory. One pair. Intentional. Then stop shopping.
