I've spent the last few months reverse-engineering why some faceless AI Shorts channels go from 0 to 100k in weeks while others post daily and get nothing.

It almost never comes down to video quality. It comes down to the first 3 seconds.

A few patterns I keep seeing on channels that actually work:

1. The hook is a question, not a statement. "5 AI tools you need" dies. "Why does nobody talk about this AI tool?" survives. Curiosity gaps outperform value statements almost every time in the first frame.

2. The script is written backwards. Write your last line first — the payoff — then build the hook to promise exactly that payoff. Most people write intro → middle → end and the hook ends up vague because they haven't decided what they're actually delivering yet.

3. Consistency beats production value, but only if you track what's working. A 30-day run of consistent, mediocre videos with a simple feedback loop (what hook style got the most 3-second retention?) will outperform 5 highly-produced videos posted sporadically.

The unlock for most beginners isn't "learn video editing" — it's "learn to write a hook that earns the next 3 seconds," then repeat that on a schedule long enough to find your winning format.

If you're starting a faceless channel, don't touch a single editing tool until you've written 20 hooks on paper. That's the actual skill.
