Why I built a Chrome extension instead of another SaaS dashboard
Most productivity tools ask you to leave your browser and go check a dashboard. That's friction, and friction kills daily usage.
ShowPath lives inside the browser itself — no separate tab, no separate login, no context switching. The extensions that actually get used every day (password managers, ad blockers, grammar checkers) all share one trait: they work where you already are.
If you're building a tool for power users, ask yourself: does this need to be a website, or can it just live in the browser? Nine times out of ten, meeting people in their existing workflow beats asking them to adopt a new one.
Building ShowPath taught me that distribution beats features early on — the Chrome Web Store is a massive, underrated discovery channel most SaaS founders ignore because it's 'just an extension store.'
