5 Product Research Mistakes That Kill Most Dropshipping Stores
I've seen hundreds of dropshipping stores fail before making their first $1,000. Almost every time, it comes down to product research.
Here are the 5 mistakes I see over and over:
1. Chasing trending products too late. By the time you see a product blowing up on TikTok, 200 other stores already sell it. You need systems to find products before they peak.
2. Ignoring shipping times. A great product with 25-day shipping = refund requests and chargebacks. If you can't get it to the customer in under 12 days, move on.
3. No math before launch. If your product costs $8, sells for $20, and your ad cost per purchase is $12... you're losing money. Run the numbers before you spend a cent on ads.
4. Selling commodities. If someone can buy the exact same thing on Amazon with next-day shipping, why would they buy from you? You need products with a "wow factor" or a perceived value gap.
5. Testing one product at a time. Winners are rare. You need to test 10-20 products to find one that prints. If you're putting all your eggs in one basket, you're gambling, not testing.
The sellers who consistently win treat product research like a system, not a guessing game. That's exactly what we teach inside SkillPath Pro.
