Why I stopped making "intricate" adult coloring books
For a while I was making the same coloring books everyone else was: tiny mandalas, dense florals, a million little sections you need a fine-tip pen and 45 minutes of patience for.
Then I noticed something. The people telling me they loved coloring the most were also the ones telling me they never actually finished a page. It wasn't relaxing for them โ it was just... another unfinished task staring back at them. For anyone with ADHD, anxiety, or just a fried brain at the end of the day, "intricate" isn't calming. It's homework.
So I flipped the brief: bold lines, big open shapes, zero precision required. You can finish a page in 10 minutes and it still looks good. No "correct" way to do it. The point isn't the finished product โ it's the 10 minutes your brain got to stop thinking.
That's the whole idea behind Snug Sketches. Low-demand creativity, not another thing to optimize. If your "relaxing hobby" stresses you out, it's not doing its job.
