The Anatomy of a Cold DM That Gets Replies (Breakdown)
Most cold DMs fail because they look like this:
❌ "Hey bro, I can help you grow your business. Interested?"
Here's what a good one looks like:
✅ "Hey [name], I saw your [specific post/product/content]. Really liked [specific thing]. Quick question — are you currently doing any outbound outreach to get clients? I put together a free resource that might help."
Why this works:
Personalization — you mentioned something specific (proves you're human)
Compliment — people respond to genuine praise
Low-commitment question — "are you currently doing X?" is easy to answer
Value offer — you're giving, not asking
The key: your first DM should NEVER pitch. It should start a conversation. The sale comes later.
