Welcome to IELTS Speaking Mastery — Start Here šŸ“Œ

Welcome to the IELTS Speaking Mastery — Band 7+ Accelerator. You've made a serious investment in your future, and we're going to make every dollar count.

How This Course Works

šŸ“š 7 chapters, 21 lessons — work through them sequentially. Each lesson builds on the last.

šŸŽ™ļø Record everything. Every lesson includes a practice task. Record yourself, listen back, and be brutally honest. Growth happens in the gap between what you hear and what you expected to hear.

šŸ’¬ Speaking Practice Lounge — jump into the group chat to practise with other students. Aim for at least 20 minutes of spoken English practice every day beyond the lessons.

šŸ“£ Instructor Updates — new practice questions, vocabulary spotlights, and examiner insights posted weekly. Turn on notifications.

Your First Week Plan

  1. Complete Chapter 1 (Understanding the IELTS Speaking Test)

  2. Introduce yourself in the Speaking Practice Lounge — share your current band score, target score, and test date

  3. Start recording yourself from Day 1

One Rule

No passive learning. Reading without speaking aloud is like reading a swimming manual without getting in the water. Every lesson requires you to speak. Out loud. Recorded. Reviewed.

Your Band 7+ starts now. Let's get to work.

5 Words That Instantly Make You Sound Band 5 (And What to Say Instead)

If you're scoring Band 5-6 on IELTS Speaking and can't figure out why, your vocabulary might be the culprit. Here are 5 words that examiners hear constantly — and what Band 7+ candidates say instead.

1. "Good"

Band 5: "The movie was good."

Band 7+: "The film was captivating." / "It was thoroughly enjoyable." / "I found it thought-provoking."

"Good" tells the examiner nothing. Replace it with a word that carries actual meaning.

2. "Bad"

Band 5: "Pollution is bad for health."

Band 7+: "Pollution poses a significant threat to public health." / "The detrimental effects of pollution are well-documented."

3. "Very"

Band 5: "It was very cold."

Band 7+: "It was bitterly cold." / "The temperature was absolutely freezing."

The rule: If you're about to say "very + adjective," there's almost always a single stronger word. Very tired → exhausted. Very big → enormous. Very small → minuscule.

4. "Important"

Band 5: "Education is important."

Band 7+: "Education is fundamental to personal development." / "Education plays a pivotal role in shaping society."

5. "Thing"

Band 5: "One thing I like is the food."

Band 7+: "One aspect I particularly enjoy is the cuisine." / "What appeals to me most is the local gastronomy."

---

The pattern: Band 5 vocabulary is vague. Band 7+ vocabulary is precise.

You don't need to memorise a dictionary. You need to replace 10-15 overused words with stronger alternatives and practise until they come naturally.

This is exactly what we cover in depth in the IELTS Speaking Mastery course — along with collocations, idioms, paraphrasing strategies, and the full Part 1-2-3 test blueprint.
