Why I started printing gaming figures for kids instead of buying licensed merch

Licensed gaming merch for kids is either overpriced or low quality — $15 for a flimsy plastic Minecraft toy that breaks in a week is the norm right now.

I started Special Characters because 3D printing lets you get the durability of a real collectible at a fraction of licensed pricing, and you can customize the character to match exactly what your kid is into that month (Minecraft this week, Roblox next week — kids' obsessions rotate fast).

The biggest lesson so far: parents don't want "toys," they want something their kid will actually display and be proud of. So we focus on print quality and paint detail over just cranking out volume.

If you're a parent dealing with a kid who's obsessed with a specific game and can't find good merch for it, that's exactly the gap we're filling. First pack is a 3-figure starter set so you can see the quality before committing to more.
