3 things I wish I knew before buying my first crystal
When I first got into crystals, I wasted money on the wrong stones and had no idea how to actually use them.
Here's what I'd tell a beginner today:
1. Not all crystals are created equal
Most cheap crystals sold online are dyed, fake, or mislabeled. A real amethyst costs a little more — but it's worth it. Learn to spot the difference before you buy.
2. Cleansing matters more than charging
Everyone talks about "charging" crystals in moonlight. But cleansing them first (removing stale energy) is actually the step most beginners skip. Smoke, sound, or running water all work.
3. Start with two, not twenty
Pick one grounding stone (black tourmaline or obsidian) and one heart stone (rose quartz). Learn those deeply. Building a huge collection fast is the most common beginner mistake.
If you want a structured walkthrough of all this — identification, cleansing, charging, and daily practice — that's exactly what we cover inside Stone_Store.
