5 signs you're about to miss a deadline (and how to save it)
I've watched this pattern play out hundreds of times. Here are the warning signs:
š© 1. You haven't opened the assignment prompt yet.
If it's due in 5 days and you haven't even read what's required, you're behind.
š© 2. You keep saying "I'll do it tomorrow."
Tomorrow-you has the same 24 hours and probably more excuses.
š© 3. You don't know how long it takes.
A "quick paper" is never quick. A "short problem set" always has that one problem that takes 2 hours.
š© 4. You have 3+ things due the same day.
If you haven't already started at least 2 of them, something is getting submitted late.
š© 5. You're reading this instead of working on it.
Yeah. You know what to do.
The fix is always the same:
Open the assignment RIGHT NOW
Do the first 10 minutes of work
Schedule the rest in your calendar
Starting is the hardest part. Once you're in, momentum takes over.
Drop a š„ if you're going to start that assignment you've been putting off
