3 Technique Fixes That Instantly Dropped My 100 Free Time
Most swimmers grind volume and wonder why they plateau. Here are 3 technique tweaks that made an immediate difference:
1. Fix your catch angle. If your hand enters the water and slides forward before catching, you're losing 0.3-0.5s per 50. Enter with fingertips angled down at 30-40 degrees and press into the catch immediately. Think about grabbing the water in front of you, not reaching past it.
2. Tighten your kick from the hip. A wide knee-bend kick creates drag and kills your body position. Keep knees soft, kick from the hip, and think about your toes barely breaking the surface. Smaller, faster kicks > big sloppy ones.
3. Breathe with your rotation, not your head. If you're lifting your head to breathe, your hips drop and you create a wall of resistance. One goggle should stay in the water. Breathe into the pocket your bow wave creates.
Try these at your next practice and time yourself. Most swimmers see results in a single session.
