If AI still isn't in your business, start with the job you already hate
Most UK small-business owners I speak to don't have an AI problem. They have a starting problem.
They've watched the videos. They've opened ChatGPT. Then Monday hits: invoices, quotes, a customer who wants "a quick change", and the social post that never goes out. AI gets parked as a project for later.
Later never comes.
Here's the rule I use with Bedfordshire businesses: don't adopt AI. Replace one job.
Pick the task you already resent — the one you rewrite every week.
Quotes that take an hour to tidy
Follow-up emails you mean to send
A Facebook post that sits in drafts
Write down: what goes in, what a good result looks like, and what you always forget. That's your first workflow. The tool is secondary.
If you can run that job once this week without thinking, you've started. If you try to "get on top of AI", you won't.
That's the whole Techanix approach. Practical. One workflow. Then the next.
