The 3 biggest lies the fitness industry tells people with invisible disabilities
If you live with chronic pain, fatigue, an autoimmune condition, or a mental health challenge — you've probably heard all three of these:
"Just push through it."
This is dangerous advice when your body is fighting itself. Training with an invisible disability isn't about pushing through — it's about working WITH your body, not against it. Some days that means a full session. Other days it means a 10-minute walk. Both count.
"You just need more discipline."
Discipline doesn't fix a flare-up. It doesn't fix a night of zero sleep from pain. What actually works is building a system that flexes with you — programs that scale UP and DOWN based on how you feel that day.
"This program works for everyone."
No it doesn't. Cookie-cutter programs assume a baseline that many of us don't have. Adaptive fitness means the program meets YOU where you are — not the other way around.
I built Temple Fitness because I was tired of seeing people with invisible disabilities fall through the cracks of an industry obsessed with "no excuses." There are real excuses. And there are real ways to train around them.
