3 Mistakes Every Beginner Trader Makes (and How to Fix Them)
I've been trading forex, futures, and crypto for years. Here are the 3 things I see blow up beginners over and over:
1. No risk management.
You can have a 70% win rate and still blow your account if you're risking 20% per trade. The rule is simple: never risk more than 1-2% of your account on a single trade. This isn't optional — it's survival.
2. Trading without a plan.
"I think it's going up" is not a strategy. Before you enter any trade, know your entry, stop loss, and target. Write it down. If you can't explain why you're in a trade in one sentence, you shouldn't be in it.
3. Chasing losses.
You take a loss, you feel the need to "make it back." So you overtrade, take setups that aren't there, and dig the hole deeper. The best traders I know walk away after 2 losses in a row. Period.
