Most guys are wearing cologne wrong — here's the actual framework.

Fragrance isn't random. Here's the framework I use when curating for clients:

1. Match notes to occasion, not just preference.

Loving a scent isn't enough — a heavy oud might be perfect for a winter dinner but overwhelming in a summer office. Fresh/citrus/aromatic notes for daytime and work, warm/woody/spicy notes for evenings and formal events.

2. EDT vs EDP isn't just about strength — it's budget and longevity math.

Eau de Toilette (EDT) is lighter, cheaper per bottle, and needs reapplication. Eau de Parfum (EDP) costs more upfront but lasts 6-8+ hours, meaning fewer reapplications and often better cost-per-wear. Know which one your budget and lifestyle actually supports.

3. Climate changes how fragrance performs.

Heat and humidity amplify projection and shorten longevity. A scent that's perfectly balanced in a cold office can become overpowering outdoors in summer. Always consider where you actually live and wear it.

4. Never buy blind.

Top notes (first 15 min) are not the full story — the dry-down (2+ hours in) is what people actually remember you by. Sample before you commit to a full bottle.
