The 3-second rule that changed my short-form content
Most creators lose their audience in the first 3 seconds. Here's the framework I use for every single video:
Hook → Tension → Payoff
The hook isn't your face. It's not "hey guys." It's the first visual + first line of text working together to create a question in the viewer's mind.
Examples that work:
A before/after side-by-side with no context (they HAVE to keep watching)
A bold claim: "This one change got me from 200 to 20K views"
Starting mid-action — skip the intro entirely
Tension is the middle 5-15 seconds. You're not explaining — you're building anticipation. Show the process, not the result. Let them feel like they're about to learn something they didn't know.
Payoff needs to deliver OR leave a cliffhook for the next video. Both work. The algorithm rewards watch time AND profile visits.
The creators who win on short-form aren't the most talented. They're the ones who understand the first 3 seconds are everything.
