I saved $4,200 on a round-trip to Tokyo last month. Here's how error fares work.

Most people don't know this, but airlines make pricing mistakes all the time. A $1,200 round-trip to Tokyo shows up for $189. A business class seat to London appears at $400 instead of $4,600.

These are called error fares, and they're 100% legit. Airlines honor about 90% of them once booked.

How they happen:

  • Currency conversion glitches between booking systems

  • Human input errors (an extra zero dropped, wrong fuel surcharge)

  • Fare filing mistakes when routes get updated

Why most people miss them:

Error fares last 2-6 hours on average. By the time travel blogs pick them up, they're gone. You need someone monitoring fare databases in real-time.

That's what I do. I track hundreds of routes across every major airline and flag deals the moment they appear.

I post 3 free economy deals per week here. For the rare business class steals, those are premium unlocks at $50 — which is nothing when you're saving thousands on a single flight.

If you've ever wanted to fly more for less, this is the move.
