How
How
I see it constantly: people with 14 apps, 6 dashboards, and 3 note-taking systems who still can't finish a single deep work session without checking their phone 40 times.
More tools ≠ more focus. Usually it's the opposite. Here's what actually moves the needle:
1. Tool minimalism
Pick ONE place for tasks, ONE place for notes, ONE communication channel per context. Every extra tool is a new place your attention leaks out of.
2. The 90-minute focus block
Not 8 hours of "grinding." One protected, single-task, notifications-off block of 90 minutes. That's usually more output than a full distracted day. Calendar it like a meeting you can't skip.
3. The 5-minute shutdown ritual
End your work day by writing down exactly where you left off and what's next. This is the single highest-leverage habit for killing "open loop" anxiety that drags into your evening and wrecks the next morning's focus.
None of this requires new software. It requires a system — which is exactly what I built out in full (with templates and a toolstack audit) in The Focus Architecture course if you want the whole framework: check it out here.
Curious what's actually working for people here — what's your current focus block length, and what breaks it most?
