Why I only trade one pair: XAU/USD
Most new traders spread themselves across 6+ pairs and never get good at any of them. I went the other direction — I only trade gold, and only scalp it.
Here's why XAU/USD specifically:
Volatility with structure. Gold moves fast, but it respects levels better than most majors. Once you've logged enough hours on it, the reactions become predictable.
News-driven, but consistent triggers. DXY correlation, real yields, and risk sentiment all funnel into gold in ways you can actually track — unlike a random altcoin pump.
One chart, total focus. I'm not diluting my attention. Every session, every backtest, every mistake gets logged against the same instrument. Pattern recognition compounds.
The tradeoff is you have to be disciplined about session timing — gold scalps best during London open and the NY/London overlap, and it's mostly noise outside of that. I trade both the London and New York sessions myself.
A bit about me: I've been trading for 3 years and hold degrees in Finance and Business Management — this isn't a hobby, it's a discipline I've built structure around.
