The 3 biggest mistakes beginners make in the gym (and how to fix them)
Most people walk into a gym for the first time and make the same 3 mistakes. I did too. Here's what they are and what to do instead:
1. No program — just winging it.
Walking in and doing whatever machine looks empty is a recipe for zero progress. You need a structured plan. Even a basic 3-day full body split will get you further than 6 months of random workouts.
2. Ego lifting.
Nobody cares how much you bench. Seriously. Light weight with proper form will build more muscle and keep you injury-free. Check the ego at the door.
3. Ignoring nutrition.
You can't out-train a bad diet. You don't need to be perfect, but hitting your protein goal daily (roughly 0.8g per lb of bodyweight) is non-negotiable if you want results.
I'm building a free community called The Grind Lab for people who are just getting started. Structured programs, nutrition guidance, and no gatekeeping. Come through if you're ready to actually commit.
