The 3 lies productivity culture tells college students

You've heard them all:

  1. "If you're not grinding, you're falling behind." Behind what? A burnout deadline? The average college student sleeps 6.5 hours and calls it discipline. That's not hustle — that's a health crisis wearing a motivational hoodie.

  1. "Rest is a reward you earn." No. Rest is a biological requirement. You don't "earn" breathing. Your body doesn't check your GPA before it needs recovery.

  1. "Your lazy days are wasted days." This one's the worst. Some of the most important processing your brain does happens when you're "doing nothing." Neuroscience calls it the default mode network — it's when your brain consolidates memories, solves problems, and generates creative ideas.

The real flex isn't doing more. It's being intentional about doing less.

I built The Lazy Day because I was tired of feeling guilty every time I took a day off. Now I use AI to generate daily content that helps me (and our members) feel accomplished — even on days we do absolutely nothing.

If that sounds like something you need, come check it out.
