Why corn mazes hit different as an adult

When I was a kid, corn mazes were about the thrill of being lost. The towering stalks, the dead ends, the panic when your friends ran ahead.

As an adult? It's still all of that — plus the satisfaction of actually figuring it out.

Here's what most people don't realize about a well-designed corn maze:

It's actually a puzzle. A good maze isn't random. There are landmarks, patterns, and tricks built into the design. Once you start noticing them, it becomes a totally different game.

The night version is a different experience entirely. During the day it's fun and family-friendly. At night with flashlights? It's genuinely intense. Your sense of direction completely changes when you can't see over the stalks.

It's one of the few screen-free activities that actually works for all ages. Toddlers love running the paths. Tweens love the challenge. Adults love the excuse to be outside.

This fall, we're opening our doors with new maze designs, seasonal festivals, hayrides, and more. The Lykins Maze is ready for its best season yet.

Grab a Season Pass if you want unlimited visits all season — way better value than buying tickets every time you come back.
