5 things I stopped buying after spending more time outdoors

Spending real time in nature changes how you see everything โ€” including your wallet.

After years of hiking, camping, and just being outside more, I naturally stopped buying a lot of stuff I used to think I needed. Here's what went:

1. Bottled water. Once you've filtered water from a mountain stream, paying $3 for a plastic bottle feels insane. Got a good filter bottle. Never looked back.

2. Gym memberships. Trails, bodyweight exercises on rocks, swimming in lakes. Nature is the gym. And it doesn't charge monthly.

3. Air fresheners. After sleeping under pine trees, fake "mountain breeze" just smells like chemicals. Open a window instead.

4. Fast fashion. When you need gear that actually performs in the backcountry, you start buying fewer things but better things. My hiking jacket is 4 years old and still going.

5. Weekend entertainment. Movies, bars, restaurants every weekend โ€” replaced by sunrise hikes and campfire dinners that cost almost nothing and feel 10x better.

Nature doesn't just make you healthier. It makes you realize how little you actually need.

If this resonates, I'm building a community around this at The Nature Circle โ€” sustainable living, trail recs, gear that lasts, and people who actually care about the planet. Come through. ๐ŸŒฟ
