I spent 3 hours thinking about whether a hotdog is a sandwich. Here's my framework.
Hear me out.
Everyone argues hotdog vs sandwich like it's opinion-based. It's not. It's a structural classification problem, and I've been losing sleep over it.
The Cube Rule of Food classifies all food based on where the starch is relative to the filling:
Sandwich: starch on top and bottom (burger, PB&J)
Taco: starch on three sides (hotdog in a bun, sub sandwich)
Sushi: starch on four sides (wrap, burrito)
Calzone: starch on all sides (Pop-Tart, dumpling)
Toast: starch on the bottom only (pizza, open-face sandwich)
Salad: no starch (just sadness)
By this framework, a hotdog is a taco. Not a sandwich. A taco.
But wait — what happens when the bun splits? Now the starch is on top AND bottom. Congratulations, your hotdog just became a sandwich through structural failure.
This means a hotdog's identity is unstable. It exists in a quantum state between taco and sandwich until the bun determines its fate.
I think about stuff like this constantly. If you do too, you might belong in The Overthinking Club — where we turn this kind of brain rot into weekly debates, conspiracy breakdowns, and shower thought tournaments.
Your brain won't shut up. Might as well make it fun.
