That stunning custom sofa? It might take 12 weeks. If you're not asking about lead times before quoting your client, you're setting yourself up for awkward conversations.

3. Ignoring regional suppliers

Everyone knows the Joburg and Cape Town names. But some of the best fabric distributors and artisan manufacturers are in KZN, the Eastern Cape, and Limpopo. Lower prices, unique products, less competition.

4. No backup suppliers

Your go-to marble supplier runs out of stock mid-project. Now what? Always have 2-3 alternatives for your core materials.

5. Not negotiating project pricing

Most suppliers offer project rates if you're ordering in volume. But they won't offer it — you have to ask. Even 10-15% off compounds across a full project.
