Your AI assistant is confidently lying to you about current events — here's the proof

I've been running an experiment.

I take a viral news claim — something millions of people have seen and shared — and I ask major AI assistants about it.

Every single time, at least one fabricates details that aren't in the source material. Not hallucinating in an obvious way. Confidently lying — with plausible statistics, authoritative framing, and fake citations that make the wrong answer feel more trustworthy than the truth.

---

Example from yesterday:

The claim going around: "NATO Article 5 means the US is legally required to declare war if Russia attacks any member state."

What major AI tools responded: "Yes, Article 5 constitutes a collective defense obligation that requires member states to respond militarily..."

What Article 5 actually says: "such action as it deems necessary" — not military force. Not automatic war. A choice.

The AI added the word "militarily" entirely on its own. One fabricated word. Completely changes the meaning of the treaty. Millions of people now believe the wrong thing because they trusted the AI summary.

This is the exact gap The Unfiltered Feed was built to fill.

Every day: one viral claim → primary sources → AI hallucination check → reader vote. Free. No paywall. Built to share with anyone who needs to see the actual receipts.

Why 'stay informed' is broken — and what actually works

Most people trying to understand the world are doing it wrong.

Not because they're not smart — but because the system they're using is designed to make them confused, not informed.

The news cycle is optimized for engagement, not clarity. You get the loudest events, not the most significant ones. You get reactions, not causes. Narratives, not patterns.

People who consume the most news often have the worst mental model of how the world actually works.

What I've found that actually works:

1. Study the incentives, not the events. Every war, every political move, every economic crisis — follow the money and the leverage. Who benefits? That question unlocks more than any headline.

2. Learn history's structure, not just its dates. The same plays run over and over — debt cycles, imperial overreach, currency crises, populist backlash. Knowing the playbook makes current events predictable.

3. Read primary sources. Speeches, treaties, court documents, intelligence assessments. The distance between a primary source and a newspaper summary is where most of the truth lives.

That's the approach behind The Unfiltered Feed — geopolitics, power, and history without the spin.

If that's your thing, you know where to find me.
