I've watched probably 3,000+ movies and these are the ones that still bug me because nobody talks about them.

1. The Fall (2006) — Tarsem Singh made the most visually stunning movie ever and it basically went straight to DVD. The color palette alone is worth the watch. Zero CGI.

2. A Prophet (2009) — French crime drama that makes most American prison movies look like cartoons. It's a slow burn but the payoff is unreal.

3. In Bruges (2008) — Before Martin McDonagh got Oscar buzz for Banshees, he made this pitch-black comedy with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. It's funnier and darker than anything he's done since.

4. Coherence (2013) — Shot in 5 nights with no real script. It's the best low-budget sci-fi thriller I've ever seen. The less you know going in, the better.

5. City of God (2002) — Okay this one IS famous, but most people still haven't actually watched it. If you've been "meaning to" for years — this is your sign. It's as good as everyone says.
