I started learning AI at 65. Here's what I wish someone had told me on day one.

Six months ago, I couldn't tell you the difference between ChatGPT and a chatbot on a banking website.

Now I use AI every single day — to draft emails, research ideas, plan my week, and build an entire online business from scratch.

Here are the 3 things I wish I'd known from the start:

1. You don't need to understand how it works to use it well.

You don't understand how your car engine works either. You still drive. Same principle. Focus on what AI can DO for you, not how the model was trained.

2. The best prompt isn't clever — it's clear.

Forget the "hacks." Just tell the AI exactly what you need, who it's for, and what tone you want. Clarity beats cleverness every time.

3. Start with one task you already do manually.

Don't try to "automate your whole life." Pick one thing — a weekly email, a social post, a meeting summary — and let AI handle it. Once that clicks, everything else follows.

I built The AI Edge because nobody was teaching this stuff to people like me. Professionals over 40 who just want practical results without the jargon.

If that's you, come say hello. We're learning together.

5 AI automations every freelancer should set up this week

Most freelancers spend 30-40% of their time on things that aren't actual client work — proposals, follow-ups, invoicing, content scheduling, project updates.

Here are 5 automations I've set up that run completely hands-off:

1. Auto-proposal drafts — When a new lead fills out my intake form, AI drafts a custom proposal using their project details. I just review and send. Saves ~3 hours/week.

2. Client update summaries — Every Friday, an automation pulls my completed tasks and writes a professional weekly update email for each client. Zero effort.

3. Invoice follow-ups — Overdue invoices get an automatic polite nudge at 3, 7, and 14 days. I haven't manually chased a payment in months.

4. Social content recycling — My best-performing posts get automatically repurposed into new formats (threads → carousels, long posts → short clips) and scheduled across platforms.

5. Meeting prep briefs — Before every client call, I get an auto-generated brief with their recent project status, outstanding items, and suggested talking points.

None of these took more than 30 minutes to set up. Most use tools you already have.

I teach the exact workflows inside The AI Edge — step by step, no fluff, built specifically for freelancers and solopreneurs who want their hours back.
