Why I started a daily tiffin subscription instead of a 'meal kit' business
Most meal subscription startups obsess over packaging and marketing. I went the opposite way: no delivery app to build, no kitchen software to license — just a real daily home-cooked menu, a WhatsApp number for support, and automatic weekly billing so nobody has to remember to pay.
A few things I learned setting this up that might help other food/local service founders on here:
Recurring > one-off orders. Weekly auto-billing removes 90% of the "did they pay" admin work. Customers forget to reorder; subscriptions don't.
Daily menu = daily reason to check in. Posting the menu every morning keeps members opening the app instead of going dormant.
One direct contact line beats a support ticket system at small scale. A WhatsApp number with a real name behind it builds more trust than a generic "contact us" form.
Starting small with TiffinHub — home-style meals, fresh daily menu, simple subscription. If you're building something food/local-service related, happy to compare notes.
