The fitness progress metric almost everyone tracks wrong
Most people track bodyweight as their primary progress signal and get discouraged when it stalls or fluctuates — but bodyweight is one of the noisiest metrics available, swinging 2-4 lbs day to day from water and food alone.
Better leading indicators, in order of reliability:
Performance on your main lifts (weight x reps trending up over weeks)
How clothes fit at the same waistband point, monthly
Progress photos, same lighting/pose, monthly
Bodyweight, weekly average — not daily
If you're only tracking the scale, you're tracking the metric most likely to lie to you in the short term. Strength and consistency trends are slower to move but far more honest about whether what you're doing is working.
