The 3 Swing Trade Setups I Look for Every Single Week
Most traders overcomplicate their process. They stare at 15 indicators and still can't pull the trigger.
After years of trading stocks and options, I've narrowed my entire strategy down to 3 setups that repeat consistently:
1. The Pullback to Support
When a stock in an uptrend pulls back to a key moving average or horizontal support level with decreasing volume โ that's my bread and butter. The entry is clear, the stop is tight, and the risk/reward is usually 3:1 or better.
2. The Breakout Retest
A stock breaks above resistance, runs up, then comes back to retest that level as new support. If it holds โ I'm in. These setups tend to have explosive follow-through because the sellers already capitulated.
3. The Earnings Gap Fill
After a stock gaps down on earnings and sells off further, I wait for a reversal pattern on the daily chart. Most of these fill 50-75% of the gap within a few weeks. Options give you leverage here without sizing too big.
That's it. Three setups, executed with discipline. No magic, no hype โ just clean price action and risk management.
