The #1 mistake singers make (and why it's killing your range)
Most singers who plateau after a year or two have the same problem — they practice singing, but they don't practice technique.
There's a difference.
Singing songs feels productive. It's fun. You're making music. But if your breath support is weak or your resonance is off, you're just rehearsing your bad habits at high volume.
Here's what actually moves the needle:
1. Breath is the foundation. If your air flow is inconsistent, your pitch will be inconsistent. Full stop. Before you worry about tone, high notes, or style — fix your breath.
2. Resonance is the cheat code. Most singers push volume with tension. The ones who sound effortless have learned to place their sound in the right resonating space. It takes a few weeks to feel it, but once you do, everything changes.
3. Your break isn't a problem to hide — it's a place to train. Singers who can navigate their passaggio smoothly have done it hundreds of times intentionally, not avoided it.
If you've been singing for a while and feel stuck, I'd bet it's one of these three things.
