The 3 DaVinci Resolve panels most editors never find
Resolve has over 2,000 controls scattered across Color, Fusion, and Edit. Most editors use maybe 15% of them — not because the rest are useless, but because you'd never guess their names.
Here are three I see people miss constantly:
1. Custom Curves (Color page)
Everyone knows the lift/gamma/gain wheels. But Custom Curves let you target specific hue ranges with surgical precision. Want to cool down just the shadows without touching the mids? This is where you do it — not with the wheels.
2. Magic Mask (Color page)
Buried under a tiny person icon. It does AI-powered subject isolation that rivals dedicated rotoscoping tools. Most editors are still drawing Power Windows by hand when Magic Mask would nail it in one click.
3. Fusion Templates (Edit page)
Fusion scares people. But the Effects Library has pre-built Fusion compositions you can drag onto your timeline — animated titles, transitions, particle effects — without ever opening a node graph.
The pattern: Resolve already has the tool. The hard part is knowing it exists.
That's what Uncle does — you say the result you want, and it points to the control that gets you there. The grade stays yours. The maze just gets shorter.
