I spent 3 years watching beginners fail at design — here's what's actually holding them back

Most people who want to learn web and app design don't fail because it's hard. They fail because they start in the wrong place.

They watch hours of YouTube tutorials, open Figma, freeze up, and close the tab. Sound familiar?

Here's the real problem: they're learning tools before they understand thinking. Figma is just a hammer. You need to know what you're building first.

What actually works:

→ Start with real constraints. Pick a problem (redesign an app you hate) and work backward.

→ Copy first, create later. Pixel-perfect recreations of good UI build your eye faster than anything else.

→ Ship ugly stuff early. Your first 20 screens will be bad. Make them anyway — that's the curriculum.

I built UIFlow around these exact principles. Zero fluff, zero infinite tutorial loops. Just a straight path from "I have no idea what I'm doing" to "I made this."

If you're a beginner trying to break into design, drop a comment — happy to answer questions.
