I've taught hundreds of adult beginners, and ukulele consistently wins as a first instrument. Here's why — and the honest stuff most people don't mention.

Why it works:

• Only 4 strings. Guitar has 6, and most adults quit within 3 months from frustration.

• Nylon strings. Your fingertips won't bleed. Bigger deal than it sounds.

• A basic C chord is one finger. You can play a real song on day 1.

• It's just fun. You don't feel like you're "practicing" — you feel like you're playing.

What nobody tells you:

• The first 2 weeks are the hardest. Your fingers don't know how to hold chord shapes yet. Push through.

• Strumming rhythm matters more than chord accuracy. Most beginners obsess over chords and never develop feel.
