The 10-minute rule that helped me function again on my worst days

There's a thing that happens with depression that nobody really talks about: you don't stop wanting to function. You stop believing you can.

So you lie there. Or you scroll. Or you stare at the ceiling making a mental list of everything you should be doing — which only makes you feel worse.

I spent a long time in that loop. And the thing that finally broke it wasn't motivation, therapy homework, or "just getting up earlier." It was a stupidly simple rule:

Do one thing for 10 minutes. Then stop.

Not "do one thing and then keep going because momentum." Not "start small and build up to a full routine." Just: 10 minutes. Then you're done. Permission granted.

Here's why it works:

  • It removes the decision. Depression makes every choice feel enormous. "What should I do today?" becomes paralyzing. But "do this one thing for 10 minutes" is a closed loop. No decisions required.

  • It breaks the shame spiral. When you finish 10 minutes of something — anything — you get a tiny hit of "I did a thing." That's not nothing. That's the opposite of nothing.

  • It respects where you actually are. Not where you think you should be. Not where you were six months ago. Right here, right now, with whatever energy you have.

The script I built takes this idea and turns it into something you can actually follow step by step. Copy-paste instructions for the days when your brain won't cooperate.

If that sounds like something you need, it's here. $29, lifetime access, use it today.

And if you're reading this on a bad day — try the 10-minute rule right now. Pick one thing. Set a timer. Then let yourself stop.

You don't have to fix your whole life today. You just have to do the next 10 minutes.
