The 3 things killing your YouTube videos (and how to fix them today)
I've reviewed hundreds of small YouTube channels. The same 3 mistakes show up every time:
1. Your first 30 seconds are boring
Most small creators waste the hook on an intro. "Hey guys, welcome back to my channel" — nobody cares. Start with the payoff. Show the result. Ask a question that creates an open loop. You have 5 seconds before they scroll.
2. Your thumbnails don't create curiosity
If your thumbnail explains the entire video, there's no reason to click. The best thumbnails create a question in the viewer's mind that can only be answered by watching. One face, one emotion, one short text, bright colours. That's it.
3. You're publishing, not packaging
YouTube isn't about making videos — it's about packaging ideas. The same exact video with a different title and thumbnail will get 10x the views. Spend as much time on packaging as you do on editing.
Fix these three things and you'll see results within your next 5 uploads. No algorithm hacks needed.
