VELVETGRADE LUT Packs: what they are, where to use them, how to install them

VELVETGRADE LUT packs are color looks for video and photos. A LUT (Look-Up Table) is a small color file you drop onto a clip or a still. It remaps the image toward a finished cinematic grade so you are not building the look from scratch every time.


Every pack ships as Rec.709 .cube files. They are made for footage and photos that are already in Rec.709 (standard contrast). If you shot Log, convert to Rec.709 first, then apply the LUT.

The packs


Vintage Analog — faded film color, warm fade, muted contrast, a little grit. Use it on music videos, documentaries, travel, and anything that should feel shot on older stock.


Teal & Orange — teal in the shadows, warm orange in the highlights, with skin kept readable. Use it on action, commercials, and narrative work when you want that familiar cinema contrast.


Night & Mood — low-key color for nights, neon, rain, and shadow. Cool moonlight, restrained neon, blacks that still hold detail. Use it on music videos, nightlife, thrillers, and late-city stills.


Wedding & Portrait — natural skin, soft contrast, warm highlights, clean neutrals. Use it on wedding films, couple sessions, and any work where faces are the product.


Cinematic LUT Pack — a general cinema-grade look for video and stills. This is the all-purpose starting pack if you want one finished grade across a timeline.


Film Emulation — classic film-stock response (negative, portrait, daylight, tungsten) instead of a single look. Use it when you want a camera-to-print film feel.


Where to use them


Video: DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro

Photos: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom


Each purchase includes the LUT files plus the LUT Install Guides course (Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut, Photoshop, and Lightroom).


How to use them


  1. Buy the pack you need from the store.

  2. Download the .cube files from the Files section attached to that product.

  3. Open LUT Install Guides for the exact clicks in your editor.

  4. Apply one LUT on Rec.709 footage or a Rec.709 still.

  5. Start at full strength, then lower the mix (often 40–70%) until it fits the shot.

  6. Finish with exposure, contrast, and saturation. Do not stack several LUTs on the same clip.


Keep the look clean


  • Convert Log to Rec.709 before the LUT.

  • Do not apply these on RAW without a color-managed conversion first.

  • If skin goes too far, drop the intensity rather than adding another LUT.

  • Match white balance before you grade.
