Most translators I know don't hate MT because it's "wrong." They hate it because it's almost right — which is worse.

You spend 40 minutes turning a stiff, generic paragraph into something a client would actually send. That's not translation. That's damage control.

The tell is always the same:

• Every sentence is the same length

• Nobody would say this out loud

• The register is "business English" even when the source is a complaint email from a tired customer

If your tool doesn't know who the reader is, it will default to that voice. Every time.

What actually saves time: a draft that already sounds like the target market, with the jargon left in and the filler left out. Then you edit. You don't rebuild.

That's the bar. If a draft still needs a rewrite from line one, it's not a tool. It's a delay.
