The #1 reason beginners fail the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam (it's not the material)
I've watched a lot of people study for Cloud Practitioner. Most don't fail because the content is hard — it's genuinely the easiest AWS cert. They fail because of how they study.
Here's the pattern I see over and over: someone watches 10+ hours of video lectures, feels like they understand everything, sits the exam, and gets blindsided. The exam isn't testing whether you watched a video — it's testing whether you can apply concepts to scenario questions ("a company needs X, which service should they use?").
What actually works:
Practice questions from day one, not just at the end. You learn the exam's language by doing the exam's format repeatedly.
Know the pricing models cold — free tier, on-demand vs reserved vs spot. A huge chunk of questions test cost-optimization scenarios.
Draw the shared responsibility model from memory. It shows up constantly, in different wordings.
Don't skip IAM. Security/identity questions are everywhere, even in a "fundamentals" exam.
Cloud Practitioner is a gateway cert — it's supposed to build the study habits you'll need for Solutions Architect and beyond. Treat it like practice for how you'll study later, not just a box to check.
