The #1 mistake beginners make when they start reselling

Most people who try reselling quit within the first month. Not because it doesn't work — because they start wrong.

Here's what I see over and over:

They buy from the wrong vendors. They find some random wholesale site on Google, order 50 units of something, and it shows up looking nothing like the listing. Now they're stuck with dead inventory and down $200.

The fix is stupid simple: start with verified vendors that other resellers have already tested. Don't reinvent the wheel. Find someone who's already doing volume and learn which suppliers they trust.

Second mistake — they try to resell everything. Pick ONE category. Sneakers, electronics, beauty, whatever. Learn the margins, learn the demand cycles, learn what moves and what sits. Then expand.

Third — they price emotionally. "I paid $40 so I need to make at least $80." That's not how it works. Price based on what the market is paying RIGHT NOW. Check sold listings, not active ones.

If you nail those three things — good vendors, one niche, market-based pricing — you'll be profitable within your first month.

I built VNDX to shortcut this entire process. Verified vendor lists, reselling tips from people actually doing it, and a community to keep you accountable.
