Why most gaming communities die in 30 days (and how to actually build a squad that sticks)
Started VOIDR because I was tired of Discord servers that die the moment the founder stops posting. Here's what I've learned trying to build a real gaming crew instead of a ghost town:
1. Daily play beats big events. A weekly tournament looks impressive but does nothing for retention. A group that shows up to squad up every single day is what keeps people around. Consistency > hype.
2. Streaming isn't the community — it's the campfire. I'm building out on Kick, but the stream is just where people gather. The actual bonds form in chat between streams, not during them.
3. Recruit for vibe first, skill second. A toxic diamond-rank player will tank a community faster than 10 mediocre players who show up and hype each other up. Screen for attitude.
4. Give people a reason to come back tomorrow, not just today. That's the whole game — a squad, not a server.
Building VOIDR around exactly this right now — squad chat, daily play, and eventually a real competitive roster pulled from the community itself. If you're a casual gamer tired of dead servers, come say hi.
