Most people making $50-80K know they should be building wealth but have no idea where to start.
Here's exactly what I'd do — in order:
Kill high-interest debt first. Not all debt. Just the stuff above 7%. Every dollar going to a 22% credit card is a dollar NOT compounding for you. Minimum payments on everything else, scorched earth on the expensive stuff.
Build a 3-month emergency fund in a HYSA. Not a savings account at your big bank earning 0.01%. A real high-yield savings account. This is your "I won't panic sell my investments" insurance.
Max your employer 401(k) match. If they match 4%, contribute 4%. This is free money. Leaving it on the table is the financial equivalent of walking past $100 bills on the sidewalk.
Open a Roth IRA and automate $500/mo into index funds. S&P 500, total market, done. Don't overthink this. The point is time in the market, not timing the market. You're 25 — compounding is your superpower.
Start learning real estate — even if you can't buy yet. Analyze 10 deals on Zillow this month. Learn what cash-on-cash return means. Understand debt service coverage ratio. When you're ready to buy in 1-2 years, you won't be guessing.
The gap between people who build wealth and people who don't isn't intelligence — it's having a system and actually executing it.
