The real reason meal prep fails isn't the cooking — it's the planning

Most people who quit meal prepping don't quit because cooking is hard. They quit because Sunday planning takes an hour, the grocery list is scattered across three apps, and by Wednesday they're improvising anyway.

A few things I've learned building weekly meal plans for busy professionals:

1. The grocery list is the actual product, not the recipes.

People don't need 50 new recipes. They need someone to tell them exactly what to buy for the week so they stop making 3 grocery trips.

2. Repetition beats variety for adherence.

A rotating set of 10-12 solid meals people actually finish beats 30 recipes they try once and abandon.

3. Batch-friendly ≠ boring.

The trick is picking bases (grains, proteins) that batch well, then varying sauces/seasonings across the week so it doesn't feel like eating the same thing 5 days straight.

If you're building anything meal-plan or nutrition adjacent — the unlock isn't better recipes, it's removing decisions. That's the whole thesis behind what we're building at WeeklyPrep Club: a plan + grocery list every Sunday so the only decision left is what to cook first.
