What nobody tells you about renting a car in Georgia (the country)
Started WeRent because every rental horror story I heard from friends visiting Tbilisi came down to the same 3 mistakes:
Booking with a counter agency at the airport. You'll get upsold on "mandatory" insurance that isn't mandatory, and the car you booked online is magically "unavailable" when you land.
Not checking for a CDW deductible in cash. Some local agencies quietly hold a cash deposit (sometimes $500+) that they don't mention until you're standing at the desk exhausted from your flight.
Assuming GPS works everywhere. The Military Highway toward Kazbegi and roads near Svaneti lose signal fast — always get a physical route briefing, not just a maps app.
We built our whole booking flow around fixing these three things: fixed one-time pricing shown upfront, real humans in chat before and during your rental, and a route briefing for anyone heading into the mountains. If you're planning a Georgia trip, happy to answer questions even if you don't book with us.
