The whale alert most people watch is noise. Here's what actually matters.

Most people tracking "whale alerts" are just watching a Twitter bot repost $10M transfers and reacting emotionally. That's noise, not signal.

Here's what actually matters when a whale wallet moves:

  1. Destination of funds vs. exchange deposits — A whale moving tokens to a known exchange deposit address is a very different signal than a whale moving funds to a cold wallet or a DeFi protocol. Exchange-bound transfers often precede sell pressure; wallet-to-wallet or wallet-to-protocol moves usually don't.

  1. Timing relative to price action — A whale accumulating quietly during a dip tells you something different than a whale buying into a pump. Context matters more than the raw transfer size. The same $10M move can mean "smart money accumulating" or "distribution into retail FOMO" depending on when it happens.

  1. Repeat wallet behavior patterns — One-off transfers are hard to interpret. But wallets with a track record — the ones that consistently front-run listings, rotate into new narratives early, or exit right before dumps — are worth flagging and following over time. Pattern recognition beats single-transaction reactions every time.

Raw alerts without this context are just noise dressed up as signal.

We break all three of these down every single week in the Whale Radar digest — actual wallet behavior, destination analysis, and timing context, not just a screenshot of a big number.
