Welcome to Winger IQ — Start Here ⚡

Welcome to Winger IQ — the most tactical winger training program built for youth players who want to dominate the wing.

Here's how to get started:

  1. Start the Course — Work through "Winger Overlap & Cross Decision Tree" chapter by chapter. Each lesson builds on the last, so go in order.

  2. Join Community Chat — Ask questions, share clips, and connect with other wingers leveling up their game.

  3. Submit Film for Weekly Critique — Every week I go live to break down YOUR game footage. Drop clips in the chat to get on the list.

  4. Check Weekly Updates & Tips — Drills, pro match breakdowns, and tactical tips posted every week.

This isn't about watching and forgetting. It's about building a decision-making framework you can take onto the pitch every single session. Let's get to work.

How Elite Wingers Decide When to Overlap vs. Cross — A Decision Tree Framework

Most youth wingers make the same mistake: they get the ball on the wing and just... cross it. No scan. No read. No decision process.

The difference between a good winger and an elite one? A repeatable decision tree.

Here's a simplified version of what I teach in my full course:

The 3-Second Wing Decision

Before you receive the ball, answer three questions:

  1. Where is the fullback? If they're overlapping → hold width and play them through. If they're holding → you need to create on your own.

  2. How many defenders are in the box? 3+ defenders packed inside → early cross or cutback. 1-2 defenders → drive at them and create a 1v1.

  3. Where is the striker's body facing? Facing goal → whipped cross to the front post. Checking to ball → play short and combine.

This takes 3 seconds of scanning BEFORE you receive. That's the skill — not the cross itself, but the read that happens before it.

I break down the full decision tree — all 4 cross types, overlap vs. underlap reads, off-ball movement patterns, and film study techniques — inside Winger IQ. Weekly live critiques included where I break down YOUR game footage.
